Below you will find the procedure for enrolling your student into our school system.

Registration Procedure

  1. Please print and complete the registration packet that corresponds to the grade your student is currently entering. If you are unable to print, you may stop into our office at 100 Edgewood Road, Door #1 in Linden, NJ between the hours of 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM Monday through Thursday to pick one up in person.
  2. Once you have completed your packet, please contact our office at 908-986-9307 to schedule an in-person appointment. AN IN-PERSON APPOINTMENT IS REQUIRED TO COMPLETE YOUR STUDENT’S REGISTRATION.
  3. At the time of your appointment, bring the following original documents with you:
    – Student’s birth certificate or passport (birth certificate is strongly preferred) –
    – Photo ID of Parent/Guardian
    – 6 Points Proof of Residency (see below)
    – Student’s immunization record
    – If your student is transferring from another NJ Public Schools: Transfer Card/Form from previous school
    – If your student is transferring from out of state/out of country/a private school: Most recent report card/transcript
    – If applicable: copy of your student’s IEP and/or 504
  4. Once all requirements have been fulfilled and the student has been medically cleared by the Central Registration nurse, your child’s information will then their file will be forwarded to the designated school, and a representative from the school will contact you regarding class/schedule placement and picking up your child’s technology device.

A legal parent/guardian must be present at the time of registration. If the individual registering the student is not the legal guardian, legal Proof of Custody must be provided at that time. Notarized letters are not acceptable as proof of custody. In this situation, an affidavit will be required and must be completed prior to registration.

In-Person Registration is by APPOINTMENT ONLY, available at the following dates and times:

Monday: 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM; 1:00 PM – 2:30 PM
Tuesday: 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM; 1:00 PM – 2:30 PM
Wednesday: 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM; 1:00 PM – 2:30 PM
Thursday: 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM; 1:00 PM – 2:30 PM

Please note: These hours are subject to change without notice. The Central Registration office follows the Linden Public Schools calendar for holidays and closures. During Summer Hours, the office is closed on Fridays and hours may differ slightly. A limited number of evening appointments are available during Summer Hours. Please call for more information.

“6 Points” for Proof of Residency
All applicants must physically reside in Linden, in addition to providing proof of residency. The district reserves the right to investigate the residency of all students. Should the district discover that a student is not a resident of Linden, the district may assess the parent/guardian the full cost of tuition for any period of ineligible attendance.

At the time of registration, parents/legal guardians must provide:

Mortgage, Deed, Property Tax Bill, or Closing Documents/Contract of Sale [3 points]
or
Complete copy of Lease or Leasing Agreement [1 point]

In the event one of the above documents cannot be provided, an affidavit of residency will be required. Affidavits may only be picked up in person from the Central Registration Office.

The remaining points may be any combination of documents below. All documents must be dated within 30 days of the time of registration:

[2 points]:    Gas Bill, Water Bill, Electric Bill, Pay Stub, Cable Bill, Car Registration, Car Insurance, Government Mail

[1 point]:      Bank Statement, Cell Phone Bill, Credit Card Bill, NJ Driver’s
License/State ID, Letter from Doctor/Lawyer/Court
