As the newly appointed Interim Superintendent in Linden, I want to introduce myself. With the resignation of Dr. Hazelton effective September 30th, the Board of Education has appointed me to oversee district operations until such time that they can hire a new, permanent Superintendent.
I am no stranger to Linden. I worked in our district for 17 years: initially as a NJROTC instructor at LHS (1996-1999), then as Vice Principal at LHS (2000-2001), then as Assistant Superintendent (2002-2008), and finally as Superintendent (2009-2013). I was the Superintendent in Freehold Borough from April 2013 up until my retirement in September 2021. I have also served as an Interim Superintendent at Monmouth Beach School District from April-August of this year.
My priorities will be straightforward. I will endeavor to ensure all our students can learn and work in a safe environment. Key emphasis will be placed on a post-Pandemic return to normal teaching and learning. I will work with the Board of Education to fill a number of vacant executive level positions in the district, and I will initiate the detailed staff work leading up to the preparation of the 2023-2024 budget. I will work closely with our administrators, faculty and staff to make this leadership transition as smooth as possible for our students and our organization.
I look for your understanding, patience and support as we navigate through this leadership transition. I am optimistic about what we can accomplish working together.
