𝗟𝗜𝗡𝗗𝗘𝗡 𝗣𝗨𝗕𝗟𝗜𝗖 𝗦𝗖𝗛𝗢𝗢𝗟𝗦, 𝗡𝗝 -- Before the much-anticipated home opener, Linden Athletics Director Michael Firestone couldn't contain his excitement for the season ahead. Despite losing key players to graduation, Firestone is confident the Tigers are poised for something special this year.

"Yes, we graduated our starting quarterback and running back, but I truly believe our younger players are ready to step up and shine," Firestone said with enthusiasm. "We’ve got a talented group, and I expect us to compete at a high level right from the start. More importantly, I’m excited to see how we grow and improve each week. This team has the potential to do great things.”

𝐋𝐈𝐍𝐃𝐄𝐍 𝐏𝐔𝐁𝐋𝐈𝐂 𝐒𝐂𝐇𝐎𝐎𝐋𝐒, 𝐍𝐉 -- The Linden Tigers bounced back from a heartbreaking 35-28 season-opening loss to rival Elizabeth with a 17-0 shutout victory over Sayreville War Memorial High School on Saturday, September 7, improving to 1-1.

The Tigers set the tone early, with sophomore running back Joe Boyd scoring on a decisive run during the opening drive. By halftime, Linden held a 7-point lead.

In the second half, senior quarterback Tyrone Hinton connected for a touchdown pass to extend the lead, and senior kicker Chris Garcia added a field goal to make it 17-0. The defense, led by senior Taahad Walker’s interception and fumble recovery, kept Sayreville War Memorial off the scoreboard, emphatically securing Linden’s first win of the season.

Partly sunny skies and intermittent rain couldn’t dampen the spirits at Tiger Stadium, where the day began with a patriotic touch as the Linden High School ROTC Color Guard presented the colors. The Linden High School Cheerleaders and Marching Band then energized a crowd of about 300 fans, including parents, community leaders, Linden Public Schools leaders and board members, Linden High School Principal Charles Koonce and Derek Armstead Mayor of Linden.

The afternoon sun and electric atmosphere made it a perfect opening day, kicking off the Tigers’ home campaign with a memorable victory. Linden Athletics Linden High SchoolImage attachmentImage attachment+Image attachment

Perkins embarked on a whirlwind tour of the district’s 13 schools, rallying staff around a powerful message: Mission Possible is not just a theme, but a shared purpose. Every member of the Linden community holds the power to shape a successful year for the district’s students.
From custodial staff meticulously trimming lawns and buffing hallway floors to teachers preparing classrooms with vibrant artwork, excitement filled the air as Superintendent Perkins and her administrative team visited each school building on Tuesday morning.
