Our Summer Middle School STEM Camp will conclude its thrilling two-week journey tomorrow with an exciting field trip to Merck Headquarters!
Superintendent Atiya Y. Perkins visited the camp to meet our enthusiastic 5th to 8th graders and will join them at Merck on Thursday, July 25. She gave an inspiring pep talk to pump up their excitement for the big day!
Throughout the camp, students tackled exciting STEM challenges, from designing their own thermos to conquering the egg drop challenge.
Reflecting on their passions, they explored careers, dove into the engineering design process, and embraced engineering habits of mind. This collaborative experience fostered a deep appreciation for science and empowered our students to pursue their passions with confidence and enthusiasm!
The 23 students from 6th, 7th, and 8th grades were guided by tech instructors Cynthia LaFace, a 7th-grade science teacher at McManus Middle School, and Kim Terwilliger, a 6th-grade science teacher at Soehl Middle School. Kim Leight served as the Science Coach, and Cindy Apalinski and Joe Scaldino supervised the grant-funded program.
