𝗛𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗖𝗵𝗲𝗲𝗿 𝗧𝗮𝗸𝗲𝘀 𝗢𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝗕𝗼𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗠𝗲𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴
𝙻𝙸𝙽𝙳𝙴𝙽 𝙿𝚄𝙱𝙻𝙸𝙲 𝚂𝙲𝙷𝙾𝙾𝙻𝚂, 𝙽𝙹 — The December 12 School Board Meeting was transformed into a festive celebration, thanks to Linden High School veteran music director Howard Whitmore and dance teacher and choreographer Breana Chin, who brought a wave of holiday joy to the evening!
Dressed in elegant formal black attire, the Musical Theater Touring Troupe opened the show with a dazzling performance of “𝙎𝙥𝙖𝙧𝙠𝙡𝙚 𝙅𝙤𝙡𝙡𝙮 𝙏𝙬𝙞𝙣𝙠𝙡𝙚 𝙅𝙞𝙣𝙜𝙡𝙚𝙮” 𝙛𝙧𝙤𝙢 𝙀𝙡𝙛: 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙈𝙪𝙨𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙡.
The Madrigals followed with a breathtaking rendition of “𝘾𝙤𝙤𝙡 𝙈𝙤𝙤𝙣” 🌙, setting the perfect holiday mood.
The night wrapped up with Breana Chin’s Dance Company adding a playful twist in their festive holiday pajamas, lighting up the room with original choreography to “𝙊𝙝 𝙎𝙖𝙣𝙩𝙖.”

𝙻𝙸𝙽𝙳𝙴𝙽 𝙿𝚄𝙱𝙻𝙸𝙲 𝚂𝙲𝙷𝙾𝙾𝙻𝚂, 𝙽𝙹 — Patricia Donegan, a veteran special education teacher at Linden High School since 1984, was recognized with the prestigious "It Takes a Village" Staff Member Award at the Dec. 12 school board meeting.
Known for her extraordinary ability to connect with and support students with special needs, Donegan’s nearly 40 years of dedicated service have left an indelible mark on the Linden school community.
The award was presented by Dave M. Walker, Assistant Superintendent for Academics, who praised Patricia for her tireless commitment and genuine care for her students.
"She truly loves the kids," Walker said during the ceremony. "That’s what it’s all about. She extends herself, goes above and beyond, and teaches with her heart."
Donegan’s nomination was submitted by Principal Charles Koonce, who highlighted her outstanding contributions to the special education program and her ability to inspire both students and colleagues.
Walker echoed those sentiments, adding, "Her work with our special needs population is simply outstanding. She creates a space where students feel valued and supported every single day."
Since beginning her teaching career in 1984, Donegan has been a pillar of the Linden High School faculty, dedicating her life to ensuring that every student has the opportunity to succeed. Her colleagues describe her as a compassionate and steadfast advocate for her students, while her impact on countless lives is immeasurable.
As Patricia accepted the award, the room filled with applause, a testament to the respect and admiration she has garnered over her decades of service. The "It Takes a Village" award is given to those who embody the spirit of collaboration, care, and community, values Patricia exemplifies in her work every day.
