Welcome to Joseph E. Soehl Middle School!

At Soehl Middle School, we proudly embrace our district's R.O.A.R. philosophy: building Resilience, creating Opportunities, encouraging Achievement, and strengthening Relationships. This guiding principle shapes everything we do as we strive to create a welcoming and supportive environment where all students can thrive.

As a lifelong resident of this community and a proud former student of Linden Public Schools—specifically Joseph E. Soehl Middle School—it is my mission to provide our students with every opportunity to be successful. I am deeply committed to fostering an environment where all students can grow academically, socially, and emotionally.

We understand that middle school is a time of significant growth and transition. Our mission is to help students navigate this pivotal stage while equipping them with the skills and confidence they'll need for high school and beyond. Through engaging classes, innovative programs, and creative teaching methods, we strive to inspire students to explore their strengths, develop critical thinking skills, and work collaboratively.

At Soehl, we celebrate our vibrant and diverse community, representing many different cultures, backgrounds, and perspectives. This diversity enriches our learning environment and prepares students for success in our increasingly interconnected world. We maintain a rich tradition of excellence in academics, athletics, and the arts, continually seeking new ways to help our students discover their passions, build resilience, and grow as individuals. By fostering meaningful relationships and a strong sense of belonging, we aim to empower students to reach their full potential.

I invite you to explore our website to learn more about the exciting programs and opportunities we offer. Together, we can make Joseph E. Soehl Middle School a place where every student achieves, grows, and thrives.

VICE PRINCIPAL'Smessage

Angelo Monaco

Welcome to our website! I am honored and privileged to serve as your Vice Principal. Previously, I was a Teacher of Mathematics at McManus Middle School and the Supervisor of Before/After School Programs. In the Supervisor position, I oversaw the Linden Child Care Center at School No. 10, the Before Care/After Care Program at all eight elementary schools, and the 21st Century Community Learning Center at Soehl.

I am a lifelong Linden resident and attended School No. 5, School No. 10, and Linden High School. I studied at Rutgers University and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics and a Master’s Degree in Mathematics Education. I obtained my Principal and Supervisor certification through the NJEXCEL program in partnership with Thomas Edison State University. After beginning my teaching career elsewhere, I jumped at the opportunity to return home to continue my career. I am invested in playing my part to move the district forward and providing our students with what they need to be successful at school and beyond.

As a leader, I pride myself on getting to know both your child and you. I want to know more than what I can find on their profile in the student database. I also want to partner with you to strengthen the home-school connection and learn what I can do to help your child along their journey at Soehl Middle School. I am committed to fostering your child’s academic, behavioral, social, and emotional growth. I have high expectations for your child in all of these areas. All I ask is for your child to show up and do their best every day, and I am confident that they will not only meet but also exceed these expectations.

Please feel free to contact me at any time by calling us at (908) 486-0550 or emailing me at amonaco@lindenps.org
